Shooting at Howe Park Sends Multiple Gunshot Victims in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Officials in Sacramento County are probing a gun violence incident that unfolded on April 18 2026 at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area at the moment deputies were dissolving a large unsanctioned party of hundreds of attendees.

How It Started

Law enforcement were first dispatched to Howe Park at approximately 6:30 PM after getting calls of individuals who may have had concealed firearms. Following that, a second caller reported describing a potential altercation breaking out at the location.

Aerial units searched from above but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Despite this, it was apparent that an enormous crowd had congregated at Howe Park without official sanction.

How the Shooting Unfolded

Deputies moved to clear the area by encircling the gathering and using their vehicle PA systems instructing the assembled crowd to go home. Nearly 15 minutes were given for individuals to vacate.

Just as the crowd began to move that 20 to 25 rounds of ammunition echoed through the night. The barrage of gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Deputies at once began identifying shooting victims.

Those Who Were Hit

Ultimately, four shooting victims were confirmed as gunshot victims. The victims — including a female and three males all believed to be in their 20s at the time of the incident — were brought to local Sacramento hospitals. Emergency physicians reported that two victims sustained immediate injuries, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, all four victims survived and were stable.

Metro Fire Sacramento arrived on scene and assisted with medical triage the four victims prior to hospital transport.

What Investigators Found

The main crime scene was believed to have happened adjacent to the Cottage Way corridor near the local Home Depot situated Arden Arcade Sacramento crime 2026 at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Detectives found more spent casings throughout the Cottage Way area. Bullet damage were identified in the wrought iron fence alongside the Home Depot. These findings suggested that at least one shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from the Cottage Way area targeting the Home Depot building and parking lot. That Home Depot location was secured under a brief lockdown for a period of time. Crime scene technicians and detectives kept processing evidence throughout the night.

Detainees in Solano County

Details gathered over scanner radio traffic indicated that a Kia was intercepted in the Solano County area. Four suspects were taken into custody. Deputies were traveling to Solano County to collect the individuals for processing in Sacramento County. Footage analyzed by investigators showed that two shooters had been involved.
